Music on the Move – FM Transmitter How-to
By Walter Lanigan
An MP3 transmitter FM is an electronic gadget meant to playback music from an MP3 player or any other device through a radio that lacks an audio input line.
The most obvious advantage of an FM Transmitter is to use it through a car stereo. This MP3 transmitter FM how-to will offer you some basic tips on how to choose
the best gadget and make the most of it.
1) Quality of transmitted music signal depends not only on the MP3 transmitter FM model. It is also very important that you choose the right radio station on your car stereo.
You can just prowl through your FM range or check sites like radio-locator.com to search for vacant frequencies in your area.
2) If you are still not happy with the signal, you may consider dismounting your car’s radio antenna (to get rid of radio station signals).
This should improve the transmission considerably. However, if you still want to listen to your favourite radio station, you will need an MP3 player with radio function.
MP3 Players and Cars – How to Stream Music Through Your Car’s Stereo Into Your iPod FM Transmitters
By Brandon M. Leibowitz
Solutions include FM transmitters, cassette adapters, wired FM modulators, stereos with an inline ports, or RCA ports. Your simplest and cheapest choice is using an FM transmitter.
There are two types of FM transmitters: wired and wireless. Basically, a wired one connects to your car, while a wireless uses radio frequency to play through the car stereo.
The frequency allotted is very low and will only work for stations between 88.1 FM – 107.9FM. Any other station will not pick up the sound coming through the MP3 transmitter FM.
Essentially, you are creating your own low-wattage radio station. FM radio stations will never sound the same as a CD or your MP3 player does.
Both work well, but plugging it into your car’s cigarette adapter allows for your iPod charging while playing music. The downside is not many cars have cassette players anymore.
The sound quality is much better than that of a wired MP3 transmitter FM because there is no interference from the other radio stations. A wired FM modulator eliminates passing through the cluttered radio airwaves when playing your iPod’s music. They intercept the radio waves from your antenna and radio. Then you can run the wire into your MP3 player’s headphone jack. Crutchfield has a large selection of wired FM modulators. It is a small jack that is on your car radio. You can run a wire through the MP3 player’s headphone jack straight into the RCA port. Ask your local electronics store what size and length is right for your car’s stereo. Plug the wires into the RCA port and your car will play perfect sounding music though your iPod or MP3 player.
